It's October! Goodbye September, you've not been good to me. It seems like I've been sick forever. Most of September really. I had a sore throat for about a week before I went to the doctor, I figured it was just from sinus drainage or something but it wasn't going away. Turns out it was strep throat, and I found this out the day before my duathlon. The morning of the duathlon, I woke up with a rash on my hips. I had only started the antibiotics the night before, so I really didn't think it could be a reaction to them, plus I had taken the same medicine for a sinus infection a few months ago. I went through with the duathlon anyway, which you can read about here.
The following Monday, I went back to the doctor to have the rash checked out, which my family had me worried was shingles. Turns out it was scarletina from the strep throat. My doctor said she knew I was tough, but I must be tougher than she thought. By the end of that week, the rash still wasn't gone and while my throat wasn't sore anymore, something was still going on with it. I was given more antibiotics and the rash finally went away.
Something still wasn't right with my throat though and then my chest and stomach started bothering me. This past Saturday, I ended up going to the emergency room because I felt like I couldn't breathe. They did blood work, an x-ray, and a CT scan, and didn't find anything wrong. Now thinking back on it, I think it was a combination of a panic attack and something else. I've had the can't breathe feeling a couple of times since then, but not as bad. I'm still having issues with my throat and stomach. It's really hard to explain and the doctor thinks I should have an endoscopy, which I should, but who wants to do that?
Because of all this, I haven't been running. I think I've only ran once or twice since the duathlon but I did manage one long bike ride with husband. Ugh, so hopefully October will bring better health. It is birthday month though, so I'll probably do some more falling apart since I'm getting so old.
I don't really have much else to talk about, sickness has occupied most of my time this month. So October should also bring more blog posts, a cleaner house, more food I actually cook, and more getting things done. Halloween! Sure you can say all the pagan junk, but come on, it's just for the kids. That's what it was for me growing up and my kids love dressing up and trick-or-treating, get over it.
No new pics in this post, I forget to send some from my phone before I turned it off to put a new screen protector on.
How was your September?
Anything you're looking forward to in October?
